Celebrating Birthdays…

I'm working on getting caught up in scrapping the boys' birthdays. Here we have Greg's first "friend" party which was a blast:

Some of you are hopping from Creative Chaos (you know who you are!) in celebration of CC's 5th birthday. Welcome!! As a reward for coming by, you have a chance to win valuable prizes. But, you have to work for it, LOL! You must leave me a knock-knock joke down in my comments. My now 8-year old (a true connoisseur of knock-knock jokes) will judge which is the best joke and I will send you something fun and scrappy. If you're just happening by and you leave a really stellar joke, I just might consider awarding a second prize. *wink*

Scrapping Everyday Miracles Challenge #14!

Well it's that time again – time for a new Scrapping Everyday Miracles challenge! This month the challenge is to pick a word that describes you and scrap about it. My word is "creative" and here is my layout:

Journaling reads:
Boy, trying to decide what one word describes me is tough! I was leaning towards “nuts” because that is the way I feel these days, but a friend suggested that when she thinks of me, the word “creative” comes to mind. Upon reflection, I think that is more accurate (no comments from the peanut gallery!) Sometimes I feel like a nut and sometimes I don’t but I almost always feel creative, so I’m going with that! Traditionally (and my favorite way) to use my creativity is through artistic pursuits, but God is working on me with a lot of out of the box thinking lately so I’m getting creative about many aspects of life. I am so thankful that He has made me the way He did and is willing to work with me the way I am!

So be sure to stop by the SEM blog. Link up your own layout by the end of the month and you'll have a chance to win a prize from our generous sponsor!

Will The Baby Albums EVER Be Done?

That is the question. My babies are 5 and 8 and they are still in the works (the albums and the kids I suppose, lol.) Good thing I got my wedding album done before they were born or that would probably still be in the works too! At any rate, here is another layout for Jon's album:

I did it for a challenge board called Cookin' Up Creations. They kindly sent me a pack of supplies and asked me to use them in a layout. They have the best challenges. I highly recommend checking them out. I also used a sketch that my friend Debbie did:

Challenge and Giveaway!!

We have a new sketch challenge going on over at Scrapping Everyday Miracles! We are also doing a giveaway on the SEM Facebook page. Our super generous sponsor Nikki Sivils sent us some of her kits and boy did we have fun coming up with all sorts of projects using it. I had the kit My Lil' Monster  which is perfect for using with photos of my crazy boys. This is the layout I did for the sketch challenge:

Here is an additional layout - this is from a camping trip last year and boy did Jon get dirty!

Lastly, here is a fun birthday card:

So be sure to head on over to the Facebook page. All you have to do is comment in the album of all our projects and you have a chance to win some great scrappy prizes! Be sure to check out the sketch and technique challenge on SEM too. Have a great week!

Happy Valentine's Day!

I want to give a shout out to my wonderful valentine! Thank you Matt for being such a thoughtful, patient and loving person. I am so thankful that God brought us together and that you are my husband.

And to celebrate another kind of love, of the 4 year old boy kind:

HAHAHA - gotta love that kid. =)

Do YOU Know What Yarn Bombing Is?

I didn't until this popped up in our neighborhood a few months ago. It is "knit graffiti" and so much fun! We enjoy having our very own street art close by. Check out this Yarn Bombing blog to learn more, I think it is so cool! Anyway, of course I had to document this and scrap about it. Here you go:

Keep your eyes peeled for examples in your area! =) If you have any fun links to share, put them down in the comments. There are some really creative people out there doing this.

Scrapping Everyday Miracles Challenge #13!

What is your passion in life? That is the subject of the latest challenge at Scrapping Everyday Miracles. I thought about it and realized that I am most passionate about using my creative talents and making stuff. Painting, drawing, designing, sewing, DIY projects, scrapbooking… I want to turn my ideas into something tangible. It's what makes me tick. I always have ideas and new things I want to try buzzing around in my brain. I could spend all day being creative (darn laundry - who really needs clean clothes ha ha). So what better subject to scrap about. ;-)

The journaling reads:
Ever since I was a little girl, I have been an artsy-craftsy sort with some sort of project going. I loved my art classes in high school and decided to study art & design in college to become a graphic designer so I could be creative in my work. I worked in the Craft Center on campus and taught jewelry making and stained glass classes. A Michael’s gift card is one of the best gifts you can give me. I was born to CREATE. It is my great passion in life and if I don’t have some sort of creative outlet I am a cranky person! God wired me this way and I want to use the gifts and talents He’s given me to do his work and make the world a more beautiful place.

Go check out the SEM blog and join in our challenge! As always, another great prize is up for grabs for a lucky winner. It could be you!
