Compendium of Curiousities 2 challenge #25!

I'm doing pretty well; two weeks in a row! This week the challenge on Linda's blog, Studio L3, was from Tim Holtz's book, A Compendium of Curiosities, Vol. 2, page 53. It involves Perfect Pearls - love that stuff, there is so much you can do with it! I made a card for some friends who have just had a little baby girl. What a blessing and congratulations to them! Here is the card:

The photo doesn't show the shimmery effect of the Perfect Pearls. It's painted  onto all the flower petals (looks great, trust me). This week the store Simon Says Stamp is kindly offering a prize to a lucky winner. Their site is www.simonsaysstamp.com - lots of fun stuff there. Thanks for looking and be sure to go to the Studio L3 blog to see all the great projects linked up for this challenge.

Compendium of Curiousities 2 challenge!

It has been so long since I've been able to complete one of the weekly challenges over at Linda's blog, Studio L3. I'm glad to get back in the game (for a moment at least) and use it to create a get well card for my sister-in-law. (Don't look Kelly!!) The challenge was the Alcohol Ink Resist as found on page 59 of Tim Holtz's book Compendium of Curiousities 2. Awesome technique and one I've not tried before! Here is the card:

I'm also entering this into the Frilly and Funkie blog challenge "A Different Kind of Tag". You had to use a tag in your project in a non-standard way.  I think making a wrap out of two tags fits the bill! I encourage you to go check out both blogs and see all the wonderful projects everyone has been linking up. Lots of inspiration!

Stop the Presses…

Breaking news! I had an idea for a holiday decoration and I actually got it done for the upcoming holiday! Not the following year, but THIS year. Woo hoo!! That never happens. I get great ideas and then never have a chance to get it done in time. But this year, I have a new Halloween decoration all done and it's only Oct. 2nd! Truly this is ground-breaking for me. ;-)

I purchased a new Halloween themed stamp set by Tim Holtz and wanted to put it to use. I found this great glass box and thought it would be fun to make a little scene inside. For the house, I used an idea from one of Tim's 12 tags of Christmas, altering the colors appropriately. I made a little 3D tree with another Tim die and covered it with brown crackle paint (looks cool, trust me). I stamped the trick or treaters and spider webs directly on the glass panels which fortunately were held in place with metal tabs and not glue so I could take them out for stamping. I "landscaped" with various colors of fallish foam and lichen bits. The pumpkin is something I made years ago out of polymer clay when I was big into dollhouse miniatures. I hope you like my box. It was tough to get one photo to show all that is going on in there. Enjoy!

This fits the Frilly and Funky Fall into Fall challenge and the Inspiration Emporium Spooktacular Decorations challenge. Thanks for the opportunity to enter these challenges and be motivated to get this done! (For this Halloween. Did I mention that?)
