Eileen Hull – Creativation 2018 Recap

Well, I wasn't there in person but I went to Creativation vicariously through all the photos and videos the away team shared. ;-) Eileen Hull released her new collection, Book Club Chapter 2! It should be hitting the stores around June (soooo long to wait...) but I have some peeks for you. I'll share tutorials when the dies are available. You can see Eileen share the Book Club dies at the show in THIS video.

I'd say the centerpiece die of the Chapter 2 dies is the Wrap Journal. This die absolutely rocks! All three of the following journals I created were cut with the same die.

A little on the techie side

On the softer side...

and......

One just for fun!

I hope you've enjoyed this peek at what is coming! Later this week Eileen will have a roundup of the projects the Inspiration Team made with the new Book Club Chapter 2 Collection so be sure to stop by and check it out. You can find her blog HERE.

Thanks for stopping by!

Mixed Media Monthly January Challenge - Ring in the New

Hello there! I have some mid-month inspiration for you for our current challenge, Ring in the New.

Image may contain: text

I created a little mini album to chronicle goals for 2018. I think it's much more fun and inspirational than a plain old piece of paper. ;-)

The covers are cut using Eileen Hull's Trinket Box die and colored with Distress inks and sprays. I added some stamping using archival ink and then covered it all with Crazing Collage Medium for a subtle crackle.

The pages are accordion style and I stamped on the front and back.

Thanks for stopping by and be sure to head on over to Mixed Media Monthly to check out all the cool projects! You still have time to enter and then you'll be in the running for winning a mixed media prize pack from the Prize Vault.

Eileen Hull Book Club Collection Birthday Card

Hello there! Eileen Hull's Book Club Collection has made its way into the stores now and there are endless possibilities when using it! It's not just for flowery projects. ;-) I made a masculine birthday card for my brother-in-law by layering interesting patterned papers and stamped cuts.

The grey paper stamped with a wood grain pattern is the page part from the Trinket Box die. I cut that  first and then used the Movers & Shapers Book Binding die to cut the notches in the edge. You need the Base Tray (what I have) or the Movers & Shapers Shuttle to use this die.

Base Tray and Book Binding die

Washi tape is easy to remove after cutting.

One cutting pad goes under the Base Tray. I positioned the die where I wanted it and used washi tape to make sure the paper didn't shift around. I placed another cutting pad over the top to complete the sandwich and ran it through my Big Shot. Easy!

One of the great things about the Book & Pages, Trinket Box, Frame Die is that it comes with the bonus Movers & Shapers oval die that you can insert into the opening of the frame part. However, if you are going to cut that shape without the oval die (or another M & S die) in the opening, your substrate can get stuck in there because there is nothing underneath to help push it out. If you own other Movers & Shapers base dies (Tim Holtz has designed several) you probably have one of these little magnetic foam blocks around:

Pop that into the opening when you cut and your paper/board should release easily. You can also use a stack of foam squares, foam core board or even a piece of kitchen sponge as well. Eileen just did a FaceBook Live today on how to use this die and tips on using the Movers & Shapers part. You can find the video HERE.

Keep your eyes on Eileen's blog this month. All month long the Inspiration Team will be showcasing projects made with the collection. There also might be some peeks of the new collection debuting at Creativations in a few weeks. Just saying' ! ;-)  Thanks for stopping by and happy New Years!
