Art With Heart October Challenge: Hauntings & Holidays
My first project for the challenge was all about Hauntings so this time I'm focusing on the Holidays part. =) This month the team has been pairing Graphic 45's wonderful papers with Eileen Hull's dies to create a whole lotta seasonal magic. Be sure to peruse the weekly posts on Eileen's blog to see all the fabulous projects my teammates have been making. Your eyes just might pop out! Using the Christmas Carol Collection, I created a diptych for my contribution.
The fantastic imagery in G45's paper are perfect for fussy cutting and layering. I wanted to make a shadow box to showcase it. Eileen's Make It 3-D die is perfect for altering dies that you already have to take them from 2-D to 3-D. There are three different "make it 3-D" shapes you can use in various ways. I chose the part with multiple scores in it because it is perfect for fitting around curved edges (like the top of the arch). I used the Movers & Shapers Arch Frame to cut the backs and the Arch Frame plus the Sized Arch insert to make the front frame.
I pieced together parts of the 3-D strips to make them fit around the perimeter of the arch back and glued them into place:
Once I had glued in the background and layers of fussy cut pieces I glued the front frame on, hinged the two halves together and glued them onto the well glittered Doily base. (I used lots of Rock Candy Stickles and dry glitter in this wintry project!)
I hope you head on over to Eileen's blog to check out the inspirational projects my teammates have made. They will knock your socks off! Be sure to join in and get a chance to win a mystery prize pack of Sizzix wonderfulness. =) (So far, your chances are very good! Just sayin'…)

Absolutely love this Lisa, such a classy piece of work. I love the Arch Frame its one of my favourites. I have used it for an Artistic Outpost piece with their new Christmas release to create a tent card. This is one of my favourites of yours, I adore how you have used the papers. Tracy x

ReplyDeleteI may have to break down and buy the bigger die cut machine. I have a small cuddle bug which works wonderfully but every once in awhile, I want a big die cut and what you have done on this project is truely inspirational.
ReplyDeletethanks Debbie! The steel rule dies are pretty awesome! I love that you can cut bigger shapes and thicker materials. =)
