More "Alphabet Soup" with Eileen Hull – Vintage Shadowbox Display

Eileen Hull's newest Sizzix Collection is here, and the Creative Team has been busy all month creating! For the month of June, our theme is "Alphabet Soup" where we focus on the Nora Numbers and Nora Alphabet die sets. I created a mixed media birthday card for my nephew earlier in the month, and I was also working on altering this vintage cigar box to make a shadowbox diorama.

I used a combination of vintage ephemera, patterned paper and of course the new dies and embossing folder from Eileen's Sizzix collection! The front has a piece of vintage wallpaper as the base of a collage. I cut a Stitched Heart out of a piece of paper embossed with the Lacy Leaves folder. The heart die set can cut the little stitching holes so it's super easy to add a stitched accent! Note the use of the Page Edges die set, Ephemera Pocket & Tags die set and Watercolour Bouquet embossing folder as well.

More fun inside! A portion of the background I made using the Nora Numbers and Nora Alphabet die sets and the same technique* I used for making the birthday card. I layered a window (Windowsill Vase & Flowers set) over a vintage postcard. The Garden Gate is a perfect layer to back the foreground elements.

*I started off by cutting all the letters and numbers out of heavy white cardstock and gluing them onto another piece of heavy white cardstock. I also ran it through my Big Shot with some of the Page Edges Dies to add "stitching" texture. I brushed a thin layer of Collage Medium over it all to seal it afterwards. When it was dry, I colored it by blending Distress Crayons over the layers and then added a final glimmery spritz of Distress Mica Stain.

• Five brand-new Thinlits sets
• A beautiful new embossing folder

March in Miniature with Eileen Hull

The theme for this month is “March in Miniature” – what fun! Eileen Hull's Creative Team designers are interpreting it in various ways and thinking outside (or inside) of the box. Mine is inside of a book!

I carved out the inside of an old book in which I could build a little mini scene:

In the cover of the book, I cut a shape to match the window die from the Windowsill, Flowers & Vases Die Set. (I traced the die and cut the coverboard with a sharp Xacto knife.)

Eileen has so many fun mini elements in her various die sets. It was fun to build a little scene!

Halloween Tunnel Book with Eileen Hull & Tim Holtz

Howdy Eileen fans! I've been working on this tunnel album project all month long and I've finally finished it just in time for Halloween. Whew!
