Under the Sea with a Pop It Up Birthday Card

This is a big month for me in the birthday card department. I have four people to make cards for! This is the first and I'll refrain from naming names since it is in the mail right now (although if the recipient sees this post I know she'll figure out it's for her due to the subject matter lol). I used the Karen Burniston Katie Label Pivot Card die so I could have a nice expanse on the front and back of the card to stamp on but still get that fun pop up action.

I like how you can move the die around on your card base to determine where you want the cut to end up. I made it towards the top of the card so I'd have a large clear area to stamp in the bottom corner.

The backgrounds are created using the Wrinkle-free distress ink technique, stamping, and stenciling.

3-D pop up when it's open!

I used Distress markers to color the stamped images.

Thanks for stopping by! I'm also entering this card into the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge - Make Your Own Background. The supplies I used for this project can be found at Sizzix or Simon Says Stamp. Follow the links below and a shopping you may go. ;-)

  2. I love this - I do love anything by the sea - not that I live by the sea - I live on an island on the Atlantic and love it!!

  3. What a work of art this card is! I love the sea theme and you really created a whole entire scene here. It made me want to grab my sunglasses and hit the beach! I especially love the structure, too, and how this is a beautiful card no matter which way you open it or look at it. It's dimensional art, in my opinion, and I love that you gave the same attention to the inside as to the outside. I'm sure whoever gets this will be a happy birthday girl indeed! Thank you so much for sharing such a wonderful project with us for this week's Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge!
