Hello! I made the following card for a sketch challenge in a Yahoo group that I am a part of (
Altered Tattered and Timeworn). I'll also share the technique I used for the background. First, the sketch!
Here is my card I created using it:
I always love using a sewing theme for projects. =) The background is a slight variation on a technique that I learned in the Creative Chemistry 101 online class. First you start out with
Specialty Stamping Paper (important!) Using a foam applicator, I swiped on a combination of Scattered Straw and Tea Dye Distress inks. Then, I lightly misted with water the Distressed Damask stamp I was using and stamped the background. I immediately blotted up the water and it lifted the ink as well, creating a ligher image in the background. (See the left half of the picture below.)
I then proceeded to stamp the other images on top using a variety of ink colors. In the original technique you do all the stamping first, blend on the background color, and then flick water onto the final image to lift the ink.
Thanks for checking out my project! I am also going to enter this card into the Craft Hoarders Anonymous
All the Pretty Flowers challenge. I must admit to being a great hoarder of flowers and flower dies. I used my favorite die, Tattered Flower Garland, to cut flowers out of tissue pattern paper. Check out their challenges if you haven't already. They have really fun ones.
Most of the supplies I used for this card can be found at
Inspiration Emporium. Follow the links below and use my code
