Welcome Baby Leo!

Anna-Karin Evaldsson is a very special member of the Eileen Hull Inspiration Team. Last year there were a lot of changes in her life, including a move from one continent to another and just a few months later, a new baby! Leo arrived weeks ahead of schedule (and just 20 minutes after reaching the hospital!) but thankfully he and Anna-Karin are both doing well.

We want to show Anna-Karin how special she is to us, so we are giving her a virtual baby shower today to celebrate Leo's birth! Even though we can't be with her, we send our love and a special crafty surprise. We invite you to visit each team member/shower guest's blog to see what they created for this new little guy.

If you have a message for Anna-Karin, please visit Eileen's blog to leave your well wishes in the comments – then she can read them all at once. Thanks for being part of our celebration!

Welcome to the world baby Leo!! I created a special ATB just for you:

I encourage you to hop along to the blogs of the other members of the Inspiration Team. We've all created projects to celebrate the new baby!

Lisa Hoel (you are here!)

I am also going to share this project over at the Mixed Media Monthly "Birds of a Feather" challenge. I think it is appropriate, don't you? ;-)

Most of the supplies I used for these cards can be found at Inspiration Emporium. Follow the links below and use my code JUICE there to save 10% if you go shopping. I will also point out that US shipping is always $5 and international shipping is just $10. ;-)

Tim Holtz Tags of 2015 – March

Hello there and happy Friday. If you haven't seen the fabulous tag that Tim Holtz shared with us for March, you need to go check it out right now! (Well maybe after reading this post!) I absolutely love the embossing powder/Texture Paste technique he shows. I've tried it on a few things already (like my Leprechaun House project) and it looks sooo fantastic. Instead of making a tag, I made a birthday card ('cause I needed one for a friend) and an ATC while I was at it.

You can find complete instructions on Tim's blog post. I used different imagery and colors than him but the methods are the same. I am looking forward to having these techniques as "regulars" in my toolbox. =) Thanks for stopping by and I hope that you are inspired to try this yourself!

Go Green – Live in a little Leprechaun house

Hello there! I'm back with another project for Eileen Hull's March Art with Heart Challenge. The theme this month is Go Green and you have until the 30th to join in. There is still time! We are seeing lots of inspiring projects being shared over on Eileen's blog. My project is a wee little leprechaun house:

I had been trying to figure out what to use as a base for my project when I saw Bonnie McLain's project shared on the blog. Light bulb moment!!! Her fabulous idea of stacking Loaf Pan die cuts was absolutely perfect for what I had in mind!

I used an embossing powder and texture paste technique, shared by Tim Holtz, to create the gold texture on the base and then spritzed with Distress Spray Stains to add color.

The lucky shamrocks are created with hearts cut out of colored coffee filters*. I glued each "leaflet" to a stem of florist's wire.

*Coffee filters are perfect to use. They are lightweight but don't fall apart when wet like tissue paper does. Stain, ink, and paint all work well to add color to white filters.

Here's a closeup of the little house, made using the Artful Dwellings die:

Of course my son said it looked like a leprechaun outhouse but leave it to an 11 year old boy to come up with that. I maintain that this house has a window with lace curtains. It is a dwelling, probably much bigger on the inside that the outside. Maybe Dr. Who is a good friend of this leprechaun. Humph! At any rate, I hope you have enjoyed my little project and please go and check out the challenge! You could win the Mini Shopping Bag die.

I am also going to enter this into the last (sniff) Craft Hoarders Anonymous challenge, which is also Go Green. Green is indeed the predominate color here!

Compendium of Curiosities 3 Challenge #24 - Remnant Rub Resist

March is a big month for birthdays in my family. Today, St. Patrick's Day, is my Mom's birthday. Happy birthday Mom!!!! We're having a party on Saturday but she can get a sneak peek at her birthday card. It's also my entry for the Compendium of Curiosities 3 Challenge #24 over at the Studio L3 blog.

As per the rules, I can't share how I did this, but if you have a copy of Tim Holtz's book A Compendium of Curiosities Vol. 3 you can see the instructions on page 51. Also, many thanks to The Funkie Junkie Boutique for sponsoring Challenge #24. If you join in you could win a gift certificate to the shop! Be sure to go see all the inspiring projects created by the Curiosity Crew over at Linda's blog. Eye candy to be sure!
