Inspiration Journal May Challenge – Pasted!

Yep, the May challenge over at Inspiration Journal is in full swing and you can join in for a chance to win $50 to spend at Inspiration Emporium! The theme this month is Pasted! and we want to see what you can do with some sort of embossing paste incorporated into your project. I made a Mother's Day card for mine:

Ever since I saw Shelly Hickox's super cool double embossing technique she used for her Dog Tag necklace, I've wanted to try it out. (See her post for complete instructions.) She used aluminum flashing as the base for her pendant. I covered a piece of heavy cardstock with a foil sheet for my "metal" substrate. I used various Wendy Vecchi blue embossing powders as my base embossed layer and white embossing powder over the stenciled Texture Paste. I wanted to create more of a "vintage china" feel since this was a card for my Grandma. She isn't into grunge lol. Here's a detail of the embossing part:

Be sure to go and check out the Pasted! challenge. There are already some pretty snazzy entries and I think you'll be inspired! Be sure to join in too. =)

Thanks for stopping by and I hope I've inspired you to go get creative. The supplies I used for this card can be found at Inspiration Emporium. Follow the links below and use my code JUICE at Inspiration Emporium to save 10% if you go shopping there. I will also point out that US shipping is always $5 and international shipping is just $10 at IE. ;-)

Compendium of Curiosities 3 Challenge #27 - Embossing Diffusers

Well here I am again getting these cards entered right under the wire! It's been a busy time lately and I haven't had much opportunity for craftiness. But I did have an excellent reason to carve out some time after all – I needed Mother's Day cards!! This was a perfect challenge to incorporate for them. You can find out how to use the diffusers on page 61 of Tim Holtz's book, A Compendium of Curiosities Vol. 3. That book is chock-full of great ideas and techniques! Linda Ledbetter over at the Studio L3 blog has been hosting these fab challenges based on the book for months now. I can't believe how many we've done! Many thanks to Inspiration Emporium for sponsoring this challenge and offering a $50 gift certificate to spend at the store.

I can't tell how to use the diffusers 'cause that would be breaking the rules, but they are pretty darn cool and I need to use them more often! I hope my Mom and Mother-in-law will enjoy their cards on Sunday. (DON'T LOOK AT THIS POST EARLY MOM! ha ha) Be sure to go and check out the challenge post over at Studio L3 and see all the eye candy there. A new challenge will up tomorrow!

Compendium of Curiosities 3 Challenge #26 - Smudge Stamping

Oh boy am I skating in under the wire for this one! ;-) Once again we are rocking along on the stupendous challenges put forth by the fabulous Linda over at Studio L3. This time the challenge is Smudge Stamping as found on page 42 of Tim Holtz's book, A Compendium of Curiosities Vol. 3. I can't share the technique, you should get the book because it's jam-packed with great techniques! I have some upcoming needs for thank you cards so I'm killing two birds with one stone. (No, I'm not really killing birds but they sure make a great card subject! ha ha)

We are always grateful for the sponsors of the challenges and their generous prizes they donate. This time the sponsor is The Funkie Junkie Boutique, thank you! Be sure to head on over to the Studio L3 blog and check out all the inspiring artwork shared by the Curiosity Crew and other entrants. Oodles of eye candy await you!
