New Eileen Hull Dies Available Only at Scrapbook.com!

Big news! Eileen Hull is i
ntroducing a new die collection designed just for Scrapbook.com! You will find lots of ways to use these dies whether you like making cards, journals or home decor. Each die coordinates with the set but also stands alone, giving you good value!

The Card Caddy is a ScoreBoards die, specially designed to cut and score thick material like matboard, chipboard, leather, felt and fabric, creating a sturdy base for other coordinating dies in the collection. The Caddy assembles in minutes. Use the die to create a card box, container for food gifts, holiday packaging or stationery, art journal, planners and cards – all this from one die!

Each of the three coordinating Thinlits sets fit perfectly on the box – cover with paper or fabric and create a special box of cards for yourself, friends or family!

Everyday Tags & Labels includes 13 dies: labels, tags, snowflake, flowers, and stars- everything you need throughout the year to add to gifts, cards, tags and journals!

The Floral Silhouettes die set has 12 elements: floral borders and swag, individual layering flowers and centers and delicate foliage. Make the flowers in layers, or cut from watercolor paper and paint each flower by hand! Flowers work on everything and these are the cutest shapes!

The Starlit Village & Card Panel die set comes with ten dies: two rows of small houses, individual houses, moon, star cluster and Warm Wishes sentiment. These dies make a gorgeous Christmas village- or paint a pastel row to make beach cottages- it’s all up to you!

These dies are only available at Scrapbook.com so buy soon before they sell out!

Let's take a look at some inspiration made using these new dies:

Here is a Card Caddy treat container decorated with the Starlit Village & Card Panel die set. The card panel part of the set is so handy! It cuts a panel that insets slightly and fits perfectly on the front of the card caddy. And those little houses are so sweet!

Here I used the Card Caddy Die to create a journal cover. The cover is embellished with die cuts made using the Floral Silhouettes die set as well as a label cut with the Everyday Tags & Labels die set.

You can use all these dies to make 2-D projects like cards too. The panel cut from the Starlit Village & Card Panel die set fits so perfectly onto the card base made using the Card Caddy Die. A flower strip from the Floral Silhouettes set complements it perfectly.

Head on over to Eileen Hull's blog to see more project inspiration and die details! Also, Eileen's Live today is sure to be fun as she shares more about this exciting release that can only be found at Scrapbook.com. I'll be sharing some tutorials for these projects throughout August so stay tuned for that as well.

Funkie Junkie Focus – Summer Fun

Hello Funkie Junkie fans! Our new theme is "Summer Fun". I always think of beach and ocean themed things as a part of 'summer' so I pulled out the Graphic 45 "Make a Splash" paper pad and started to play.

The Tim Holtz Etcetera tags and parts make perfect bases! The new Facades coordinate perfectly with the tags and add a lot of dimension.

Graphic 45 papers always have so much lovely detail built into each collection. The focal designs are perfect for fussy cutting.

Here are some looks at the "in progress"

1) First I painted the edges of the tag with purple. I cut a piece of fabric and thin quilt batting to fit the front of the tag and stitched around the edges.

2) I stitched on some scraps of lace and shell buttons before I adhered the fabric to the tag base. Then I went to town layering away.

The purple foliage I cut from some scraps of painted and heat treated Tyvek I had from this project.

Eileen Hull 2023 Sizzix Chapter 3 Release Party!

Welcome to the Sizzix 2023 Chapter 3 Release Party of Eileen Hull's newest die collection! We are celebrating with a Live party and this Blog Hop. Eileen's Teams have been hard at work creating with Eileen's new products and have quite a lineup of inspiration for you. Here is what Eileen has to say,
The Bigz Plus* Slotted Treat Box Die measures 6 1/2” x 5” x 3 1/2” and can hold so many things – a set of cards, journals, doll clothes, ephemera storage or you can even use it as a gift box! This is a Scoreboards die which is specially designed to cut and score thick material like matboard, chipboard, leather, felt, fabric and metal. *A 9” wide machine is required to cut this die.

The Field Notes and Specimen Card Die is a Bigz XL die that holds 5” x 7” pages or photos – a new orientation! The Specimen Card may be used to hold photos, as a journaling card or a shaker. Holes are pre-cut into the book spine which is adjustable from 1/2” to 1 1/2 in width. *XL Cutting Pads will be needed to cut the book cover.

The Envelope, Folder & Flowers Thinlits Die Set is made up of nine dies – an adorable mini envelope, file folder, set of small, medium and large hearts, and a large and small flower and leaf set. This die set will be perfect to create ephemera using your scraps!

The Keys 3D Embossing Folder is special to me. The keys all came from my Dad’s house. The names on the keys had to be removed because of possible copyright issues, but I love the idea of stamping or writing words on them. The detail on this is beautiful and I can’t wait to add Luster Wax to make the design pop!

The New Collection:

The team has been busy creating lots of samples so please make sure to visit the Blog Hop post on Eileen's blog and be watching social media to see their makes! There's a giveaway too! Comment in the Facebook and YouTube streams and tell us which is your new favorite die or folder and what you would make with it. You have until July 18th to post your comments.

Here's a look at some of the projects I made using Eileen's new dies. Tutorials will be coming up later in the month…

Using the Keys Embossing Folder and the Slotted Treat Box Die, I created a "treasure chest" for keeping those special objects in. This box is a Plus die so you need a larger machine to use it. The box is quite large and you can fit all sorts of things in it!

Funkie Junkie Focus – Bird Notes Card Caddy

Hello there Funkie Junkie fans! Our new focus theme is "use your favorite Tim Holtz product". (Like I could choose just one thing – impossible!) Therefore I have used various Distress medias, stamps, dies and stencils to create a Card Caddy full of notecards.

Lisa Hoel for The Funkie Junkie Boutique #creativejuicefreshsqueezed #eileenhull #mymakingstory #tim_holtz #thefunkiejunkieboutique #sizzix

Mixed media is the best! All the goodies play so nicely together…

I made a set of ten cards to fit into the Card Caddy holder.

Let's take a look at how I made them:

Step 1 – I created backgrounds to cut up into card fronts. First I used Distress Sprays to lay down some color onto cardstock.

I added a secondary layer of visual texture with stencils.

Step 2 – I chopped the pages up into card fronts before adding more stamping and texture. Meanwhile, I had also cut the card bases and mats (from Kraft Stock Sparkle Classic – it added some nice bling to the cards).

Step 3 – I set the card bases off to the side and continued on with adding more to the fronts. Stamped texture went on first. Using the set of Everyday Art Element Stencils and Distress Embossing Dabber, I then added Distress Glazed accents.

I adhered the die cut Silhouette Birds and Small Talk sentiments, then did some additional stamped texture over everything.

Step 4 – The Card Caddy Die (currently 50% off!) is a cinch to put together. I cut the pieces out of Sizzix mat board and then inked them. The tabs fold on the score lines and I glued it all together with a strong, quick grab liquid glue. (Clothespins are great for holding the tabs in place while the glue is drying.)

Build a Stash – Making Journal Fodder Using Eileen Hull Dies

Hello and good day to you all! For the month of June, Eileen Hull's Inspiration Team has been focusing on making journal fodder for your journal projects. What is journal fodder? It's those little bits and pieces you can add to the pages of your journals to bring them to life. Think tags, pockets, ephemera clusters etc. You can create a fodder stash to have ready to go for your next journal project.

For my take on the theme, I used Eileen's Snail Mail and Mini Slimline & Tickets Die Sets to make stamps! I'll show you several different materials you can use.

You can use the stamps in blocks to add to projects or you can cut them apart and use as singles!

Let's take a look at some of the how-to:

1) Crinoline is a stiffened fabric historically used in millinery. You can dye it any color you like and it die cuts beautifully. For this first idea, I used it as a base and applied rub ons from 49 and Market directly to the crinoline.

I die cut it with the Mini Slimline & Tickets Die and then added some stamping using Eileen's Snail Mail Postage stamp set and Archival Ink. Easy!

2) I used Old Paper Distress Spray Stain to color the white crinoline and then cut squares of felt and fabric to overlay the 'stamp bases'

After tacking down the felt/fabric to the crinoline bases with tiny dots of glue, I used embroidery floss, small die cuts and other bits to add fun details to the stamps.

Stiffened felt from the craft store also makes a great stamp base and cuts easily. This set of stamps were cut from felt and then embellished with squares of paper, rub ons and ephemera.

3) Fun foam is a great material to work with. I've used it in the past to make foam stamps from my die cuts and I thought it would also be useful as a fodder substrate too!

After cutting out the 'stamps' I painted in the backgrounds, then stamped on details with the foam stamp I had made using Eileen's Mandala Die. I followed up with some marks made with a found object and then added some fun brads and other ephemera bits.

Thanks for stopping by and be sure to keep an eye on Eileen's blog for more inspiration from the Educator and Inspiration Teams.

You can see some more 'stamp collage fodder' in this post that I made for the Chapter 2 die release earlier this year. Enjoy!

Funkie Junkie Focus – New Stampers Anonymous from Tim Holtz

Hello there, our Funkie Junkie Focus this time around is on the newest Tim Holtz release from Stamper Anonymous. Fun stuff! I created an all occasion card using the Tiny Prints and Bold Botanicals stamp sets.

Lisa Hoel for The Funkie Junkie Boutique #creativejuicefreshsqueezed #mymakingstory #tim_holtz #thefunkiejunkieboutique #sizzix

I used Distress Glaze to create the Tiny Prints background. I stamped with embossing ink onto a piece of Backdrops paper, then embossed it with Peeled Paint Distress Glaze.

Completed card base:

For the flower focal piece (Bold Botanicals), I stamped it and then embossed with Walnut Stain Distress Glaze before blending on the color using Distress Oxide Inks. There you go, using the powers of stamping to create an easy card!

Funkie Junkie Focus – Get Ready to Travel!

Hello and welcome to summer vacation season! Our Funkie Junkie Focus theme this time is "Get Ready to Travel!" I created a small road trip notebook that you can take with you in the car and keep track of travel details in.

Lisa Hoel for The Funkie Junkie Boutique - "Get Ready to Travel" road trip notebook #creativejuicefreshsqueezed #mymakingstory #tim_holtz #thefunkiejunkieboutique #sizzix

I used the Eileen Hull Skinny Mini Book Box Die to create the notebook cover.

Lisa Hoel for The Funkie Junkie Boutique - "Get Ready to Travel" road trip notebook #creativejuicefreshsqueezed #mymakingstory #tim_holtz #thefunkiejunkieboutique #sizzix

I decorated the front and back using Tim Holtz stamps and dies that are sure to stoke your wanderlust! Inside is a lined notebook insert I cut down to fit the cover.

Lisa Hoel for The Funkie Junkie Boutique - "Get Ready to Travel" road trip notebook #creativejuicefreshsqueezed #mymakingstory #tim_holtz #thefunkiejunkieboutique #sizzix

Here's a quick look at how it came together:

Step 1 – I covered Sizzix matboard with pieces cut from an old road map. I then die cut the two cover halves out of the matboard. I wanted the notebook to be thin and fit just one signature, so I trimmed off part of the spine pieces.

Tip: to decrease bulk when you glue the overlapping spine parts together, on one side peel off the outer layer of the matboard first.

Step 2 – After gluing the two cover halves together and letting them dry, I used my Crop-a-dile tool to punch holes in the top and bottom of the spine for the elastic.

Step 4 – String elastic cord through the holes and tie off inside. Make sure it has some tension on it so it will hold the signature in place. All you have to do is open up the signature to the middle and slip it under the elastic. Easy peasy!
