Hello, this week at Topflight Stamps our brand focus is Creative Expressions. I also shared a card yesterday which you can see here! I used the Sewing stamp set again to create a pair of ATCs.

PaperArtsy Minis with Topflight Stamps – ATCs

Hello there! This week on the Topflight Stamps blog, we are focusing on PaperArtsy mini stamps and stencils. They are perfect for projects both large and small! I created a series of ATCs (Artist Trading Cards) to showcase them. (So much fun to make!)

ATCs are great for using up bits and pieces of backgrounds and die cuts that you may have laying about. The small size of the PaperArtsy minis are perfect too!

I used scraps of Gel Press prints, inky backgrounds and other papers for the ATC bases. I added die cuts made using the AALL & Create SkyCrossed Paradise Die Set. It has lots of fun detail dies in it.

ACEO Display

Happy Friday to you all! My husband enjoyed the anime series One-Punch Man so I purchased an Artist Trading Card (aka ACEO) of the hero, Saitama for him as a Father's Day present. (The artist is Anne Dandan and you can see her work at her etsy store and follow her at @WrathOfBom.) I wanted to make a little display for the card so he could take it to work and use it for desk decor. ;-) Here is what I came up with:

Most of the supplies and dies I used are from Tim Holtz! Oxide Inks for the background (I loooove them!), the Cityscape dies and a Silly Monster provide the perfect setting for the card.

FYI the Cityscape die sets are on sale at right now at Sizzix. I love all the details they have. Check out the sale and see what other trouble you can get into! ;-)

Topflight Stamps – Fairytales with Lavinia Brand Stamps

Hello there! Today I'm sharing a project I made for Topflight Stamps. It's a divider for the Fairytale section in one of my ATC collection binders. This is the first one I've decorated; the rest are still plain and boring. Hopefully that will change in the not too distant future!

I'm really in love with the style of Lavinia Stamps from the UK and I have a lovely selection of them used here in this piece. To begin with though, I created a background layer with Paperartsy Infusions Dyes on the manila file folder base. Infusions Dyes are grains of pigments that react strongly with water. I carefully sprinkled some onto the base (Terracotta and Golden Sands) and then spritzed it with water. A little goes a long way, these pigments are concentrated! They make such a cool background I almost hated to cover it up with the tag.

Soooooo cool!!
But I did! I cut a tag out of Distress Heavystock and created my background on it with Distress Oxide inks (love them so much!!) I used the Tim Holtz Stamping Platform to stamp all the figures etc. That was really helpful to use because I did have to go back and re-stamp a few areas that didn't get enough ink coverage.

Thanks for stopping by! Below is a list of supplies I used. Be sure to check out the Topflight Stamps blog for more inspiration. There is always something fun to see there! Have a great weekend. =)

Fairy ATC Trio for Topflight Stamps

Hello, I have a mystical set of ATCs to share with you today! Topflight Stamps carries a range of Lavinia Stamps from the UK and I have quite fallen in love with their style.

I had a lot of fun making this mixed media trio! The card on the left features a Color Burst background with stenciling, embossed stamped image and Perfect Pearls sparkle with lace trim and stitching. The center card has fussy cut stamped images that I layered over a corrugate base to give it dimension. The final card's background is made with Distress Oxides and paint stenciling along with die cut shapes and trim.

Thanks for stopping by and be sure to keep an eye on the Topflight Stamps blog to see more inspirational projects from the designers throughout the month. A world of stamps is there for you to feast your eyes upon!

Topflight Stamps is also having a Design Team Call! – You have a few more days to enter:

Mixed Media Monthly – February Challenge # 33

Boy, have we got some inspiration for you this month! ;-) It's time for some Sweet Inspiration with Challenge #33 over at the Mixed Media Monthly blog. Our sponsor this month is Stampendous and they very generously sent each team member some goodies to create with. (I also just might happen to have a fair amount of their stuff already. ;-) ) I was excited to get some Andy Skinner stamps and a gear stencil – it was looking like a steampunk project was in order…and it took the form of another ATC binder! Yes, I needed another one. My addiction fondness for ATC trading continues unabated. (You can see the other binders I've made here, here, and here.)

Feast your eyes on all that grungy gear glory! The focal point is a little "clockwork" bird (a Stampendous stamp.)

I have a little tutorial for you; read on:

1. The front panel I cut out of matboard and glued a couple of pages from old books onto it. I then added some strips of masking tape and misted with Distress Stains to age it all. I also hand cut an arched "birdcage" form out of another piece of matboard.

2. I used the Stampendous gears stencil and Dreamweaver matte black embossing paste to add texture to the arched frame. After it was dry I misted it with Black Soot, Hickory Smoke and Vintage Photo Distress Stains.

3.  Before I glued the arch on, I stamped in the background with archival ink and used a stencil and Viva copper crackle paint to add more texture.

4. Next came the fun part of adding in the bird and all the gears. Some I embossed with powders from the Bronze Encrusted Jewel kit, others I colored with metallic Distress Stain.

I also used the encrusted jewel technique (see this video) to add some more bling and texture. The Jewel kits are a coordinated set of embossing powders, glitter and mica flakes. You can mix them all together, sprinkle them onto your project and heat them from beneath with a heat gun to melt the powders and "glue" everything down. It's pretty cool! It took a while to melt the powder through the thick matboard but patience paid off.

5. While I was working on the front panel, I decided the standard binder I was going to mount it on needed something too. I covered the front and back with Melange Tissue Wrap, adhering it with Glue 'n Seal. When it was dry, I inked all the visible areas with Archival Potting Soil ink.

When I was finished with the front panel, I glued it to the front of the binder. For extra sturdiness, I drilled a small hole in each corner of the panel, all the way through the front of the binder. Long Screws and Hitch Fasteners gave me extra insurance that the panel was never going to pop off.

Whew, that was a long post! Thanks for sticking with me. Be sure to head on over to the Challenge post and check out all the inspiring projects my teammates and Guest Designer Fran Seiford have created. Many thanks to our sponsor Stampendous too! Join in our challenge and you could win a $25 gift certificate!
