Birthday Blog Hop Bash!

Welcome to my blog and get ready for some fun! I am a part of the grand one-year birthday celebration of the Scrapping Everyday Miracles blog and boy do we have lots planned for all of you! We have the hop, challenges on the blog, and games and challenges on our Facebook Chit Chat page as well. AND, there are prizes galore! (more on that later) If you have just come to my blog, you can begin at the beginning of the hop by going to the SEM blog now.

We have been asked to share our favorite SEM challenge that we've done so far. This was hard for me to choose because I've been happy with so many of them. I think Challenge #5 is indeed my favorite though. It was about finding the everyday things that make you laugh. My sons certainly provide many funny moments as this layout illustrates:

I also want to share a project about celebration. I thought a birthday card was the perfect project to show! You can never have too many birthday cards on hand in my opinion. This design also happens to be great for using up scraps!

Did I mention prizes galore? Our hop Grand Prize has been provided by two wonderful sponsors... Paper Loves Glue and Memorable Seasons...  Our grand prize winner will win both a gift certificate for $15 to Paper Loves Glue and a $20 gift Certificate to Memorable Seasons.  If that isn't enough both sponsors have provided a discount to their stores!!!!!

As a special offer to all the followers and participants of Scrapping Everyday Miracles, Paper Loves Glue is offering a special discount of 30% off the entire store. Just enter code SAVE30 upon checkout at paperlovesglue.etsy.com. This offer is valid until June 13, 2012.

For a limited time (until June 30th), if you shop with us and use the code MIRACLES at checkout, you can save 15% off your purchase. This offer does not apply to items in the Pre-order section since they are already 25% off. Please place separate orders for Pre-order & In-stock merchandise if you’d like items from both.

So are you all ready?  It is time for some hopping!  Have fun and remember in order to qualify for the Grand Prize you must comment on all the blogs in the line-up. The hop will remain open until Sunday night, June 3rd at 11:59pm PST.

Compendium of Curiosities 2 Challenge #7

Another week's challenge completed! Woo hoo! This was a fun one - Brushless Watercolor as found on page 49 of Tim Holtz's book, A Compendium of Curiosities, Vol II. This is a challenge that is going on on the blog Studio L3. It's been fun doing a new technique from the book each week! I created this card for a friend - the background uses the brushless watercolor.

I encourage you to hop on over to the Studio L3 blog and check out all the great submissions for this challenge. The sponsor for the week is eclectic Paperie. They are an awesome store, check them out too. Have a great week!

Compendium of Curiosities 2 Week #6

Under the wire again! My son and I just finished reading "Treasure Island" together and I found myself inspired for this week's Compendium of Curiosities 2 challenge! (albeit at the last minute but I made it happen!) The technique to use this week is Tissue Wrap Collage and it's found on page 38 of Tim Holtz's book,  A Compendium of Curiosities, Vol II.

Here is the card I made. I'm going to save it for my son's birthday.

I had a lot of fun making this! The sponsor this week is The Funkie Junkie's Boutique , they have great stuff! Go check out all the other entries. So inspiring!

Ready To Go For Father's Day Too!

I'm on a roll, at least for making cards well ahead of the required occasion! That is a somewhat unusual occurrence for me but I'm trying to get better about it. I did fall way behind on the Compendium of Curiosities 2 challenges on the Studio L3 blog since I've been so crazy busy lately. I missed Challenge 3 - Marbled Stains and Challenge 4 - Faded Layers. The current challenge is to use Shattered Stains, as found on page 48 of the Tim Holtz book, A Compendium of Curiosities, Volume 2. These challenges have been so much fun and you have a chance to win a prize. This week's sponsor is Simon Says Stamp (www.simonsaysstamp.com).

Down to business, for my Father's Day card I combined Challenges 3, 4 and 5! (So I can say I'm caught up now right?) The base background is the Marbled Stains technique, background stamping used Faded Layers and of course the gears utilize the Shattered Stains method (which is so so cool).

I'm pretty sure my Dad never looks at my blog so this won't ruin the surprise. ;-) Here's a detail of the gears:

Well, enjoy the rest of your week and check out the other art people are doing for this over at the Sudio L3 blog. There is some fantastic inspiration over there!

Scrapping Everday Miracles - Challenge 16!

Hello! Mother's Day is almost upon us (You haven't forgotten have you? It's next Sunday!) This month our challenge at Scrapping Everyday Miracles is to create a project that centers around our mothers. How have you been blessed by your mother?  What everyday miracles have you missed in the past but see clearly now?  Some of us may not know our mothers so you can create a project about someone in your life that has shown you that motherly love or who God has used as a miracle in your life!

Here is my layout:

Journaling:
My mom is such a blessing to me. Growing up she was always there to support me and she is still there to help me today. We only live a few miles apart and I am so thankful for that. I get my art genes from her and we share creative pursuits. She is my mom and my friend. Thanks Mom!

I used the following sketch from Becky Fleck's Pagemaps:

Be sure to check out the challenge details at SEM! Link up your own creation there by the end of May and you'll be eligible for a chance to win our monthly prize. Happy Mother's Day!
