Notebooks, Baked Texture & Giraffes, Oh My!

Hello there! Today I have a new mini journal project for Topflight Stamps to share with you. Eileen Hull's new Notebook Die is the perfect blank canvas for all sorts of mixed media fun!

Topflight Stamps has the new Seth Apter embossing powders in stock so I finally got to play with some of them. The Baked Velvet embossing powders are great for layering with stamping and stenciling! On the journal front I stamped the Katzelkraft giraffe and some texture and then covered it with the Maize Powder. I layered that over a panel that I had embossed with Taos Sunset (which is totally gorgeous!!)

On the covers I stenciled and stamped and then embossed it all with the various colors from the Sahara Kit. The Baked Velvets have a really interesting matte finish when you emboss them.

Thanks for stopping by! Below is a list of supplies I used. Be sure to check out the Topflight Stamps blog for more inspiration. There is always something fun to see there!

Exciting news! Yesterday I found out that my entry for the FaveCrafts Best Blogger Contest 2019 earned a place as a runner up! Also, many thanks to the generous sponsors of the contest, especially Rinea for providing their gorgeous foiled papers and Xyron, whose adhesives made completing this treasure box SO much easier!

The structure of the box is made with Eileen Hull's new Treasure Box Die. I also used Tim Holtz's 3-D Texture Fade Embossing Folders and 3-D Impresslits.

High Flying Birthday Card with Topflight Stamps

Hello there! I hope that everyone had a nice Easter holiday. We also celebrated my father-in-law's birthday since it is tomorrow. This is the card that I made him:

The background is made with Distress Oxide Spray Stains (super fun to play with!!) I hand cut some cloud stencils out of cardstock and used them to apply embossing ink to the sky. I embossed them with some of the new Eileen Hull Molten Dimensions Embossing Powder. I love the texture you get with the chunky powder!

The plane is a fussy cut stamped image from the Fly High stamp set from IndigoBlu.

Hickory Dickory Dock…

…the mouse ran up the…bookmark? ;-) I'm back with another project for Topflight Stamps. This week the team is focusing on stamps from Crafty Individuals. I received the Hickory Dickory Dock stamp set and it just called out for a bookish application – hence a bookmark!

I love the detail in the Crafty Individuals stamps. I lightly stamped and inked in the background with Distress Ink and then let the main stamping take front stage. A little bit of watercolor highlights the design. I think I'm going to laminate this to protect it and make it a very practical bookmark. =)

Thanks for stopping by! Below is a list of supplies I used. Be sure to check out the Topflight Stamps blog for more inspiration. There is always something fun to see there! Also, Topflight Stamps has a sale running now through the 20th. Check it out!

Easter Candy Basket with Topflight Stamps

Hello there. Easter is almost upon us! I can't believe that tomorrow is Palm Sunday. I created this candy basket using Eileen Hull's new Treasure Box Die and lots of fun stamps from Topflight Stamps.

I love the whimsical Katzelkraft stamps like the Dragon and Rabbit that I used on this project. They bring a smile to my face. I think the Whopper egg candies will bring a smile to my son's face. They are his favorite. ;-)

I stenciled the background and then stamped the rabbits and glued the fussy cut Katzelkraft stamp images onto it. I drew and cut out some Easter eggs to add to the scene. The wire handle was made using Eileen's Twist & Style Tool. It was a quick and easy project!

Topflight Stamps - You Can Still Hop Along & A New Card

It's not too late!! You can still participate in the Birthday Blog Hop (through April 8th) for a chance to win the grand prize and other prizes drawn from each designer's blog comments. Go to the main hop post on the Topflight Stamps blog to get started!

Today I have a spring card to share with you made with one of the wonderful Darkroom Door Collage Stamps and their resist crayon.

I was inspired by Lindsay Weirich's video about the resist technique she used for the Collage Stamps and crayon. (Watch it and you'll get some great tips!) After stamping the image onto watercolor paper with archival ink, I watercolored the butterflies yellow and the ferns green. I added the resist crayon over the areas I had painted on the ferns and over some parts of the yellow painted wings on the butterflies. I went back over the butterflies with orange paint and the crayon preserved yellow portions by resisting the orange.

The crayons are softer than standard 'school' crayons and cover well.

I added some more crayon over the butterflies again and as a final step, I painted a wash of blue over the whole thing for the background. It was really easy with the resist protecting the ferns and butterflies. I went right over the top and the colors didn't get muddied.

Thanks for stopping by! Below is a list of supplies I used. Be sure to check out the Topflight Stamps blog for more inspiration. There is always something fun to see there!
