"Let's Get Sewing" with Eileen Hull Sizzix Dies

The theme for this month is “Let's Get Sewing” and I am totally on board for that! I love incorporating sewing and embroidering in my Eileen projects. For this month, I made two decorative pillows that Eileen will be able to use in her new vintage trailer.

These are covers made for 12 and 8 inch pillow forms. For the larger pillow, I made a pieced quilt block strip to applique onto the base fabric.

On the 8 inch pillow, I was inspired by Madeline Arendt to make a woven heart applique using two cuts from the Tunnel Arches Die Set. I first ironed light interfacing on to the fabric pieces to give them more support and to keep the edges from fraying. Then I cut the arches shapes with the die set. After marking the lines with an erasable fabric pen, I cut the "weave" strips carefully with scissors and then interwove them together before sewing it onto my pillow cover base.

The tongues on the side were cut from felt using the Tunnel Arches Die Set. I used several of Eileen's retired flower dies to cut shapes from felt with I embroidered and stitched onto the pillow cover.

Mother's Day Cards with Topflight Stamps

This week at Topflight Stamps our theme is "Mother's Day/Spring".  I decided to make cards for my Mom and Mother-in-law. I'm all set now for May 10th!

For the background I used a Lindy's Stamp Gang Magical Shakers set - Under the Sea #2. (I wanted to play with them more, so pretty!) I stamped over the backgrounds and colored in the flowers with paint pens.

Mixed Media Bridal Shower Card with Topflight Stamps

This week at Topflight Stamps our theme is Anything Goes! I made a card for my future daughter-in-law's bridal shower.

I started off with a Gel Press print from my stash. I added some extra layers of paint over it with a brayer and Lavinia Chalk Paint (Parisian). Next I stenciled over the top with Snow White paint using the Craft Emotions The Cook stencil. Finally I used the Let's Eat stamp set to stamp over everything with black ink.

This week at Topflight Stamps our theme is "Media"! That means we get to play with inks, paints, sprays and all the mixed media goodies. Fun! I created a cheerful birthday card…

I made the background using Lindy's Stamp Gang sprays and Magical Shakers (ink crystals). I love the colors and bit of glimmer in them. I cut the clouds out of a Gel Press print from my stash and the fussy cut PaperArtsy bird stamp has been watercolored.
