Hello Funkie Junkie fans! Our theme this time is "Season of Gratitude" and nothing says grateful like a handwritten thank you note. If it's in a beautiful handmade card, all the better! I created a set of six fall themed thank you cards featuring Sizzix 3-D Textured Impressions Embossing Folders, Tim Holtz Sizzix Dies and lots of Distress media.
You get such amazing texture using the 3-D folders! Here's a look at how I did it.
1) For the base of the embossed backgrounds, I used gel prints from my stash.
2) I inked the embossing folder itself with Black Soot Archival ink (permanent oil based ink works best for this technique) and then embossed the paper. The ink is transferred down into all the nooks and crannies and really helps make the texture pop.
After embossing, I added Distress Crayons (both regular and the pearlized ones) to add color and bring out the textures even more.
3) I used leaves cut from my stash of fall colored inky background papers to layer onto the embossed backgrounds. I also matted each background with Distress Kraft Stock Blackout paper.
Thanks for stopping by. Keep an eye on the Funkie Junkie Boutique Blog, Inspiration Ave. because you are now getting regular doses of expanded (and inspiring) content each week. Don't miss it…
