Winter Church Lantern

It may only be the beginning of November, but I am certainly feeling the urge to create Christmas themed projects! I'm hoping that by getting started earlier this year, I might actually get all the ideas in my head created by January 1st (futility perhaps? lol). I am especially excited by the possibilities of Tim Holtz's new Village Dwelling dies. I made a Halloween themed scene (see it HERE) and I have great plans for making little houses everywhere! For a Christmasy feel, I made a glittery little church and placed it in a serene snow scene:

I wish the camera captured all the sparkle in this. I used lots of glitter, glimmer mist and pearlized paint. It's a magical setting!

I topped it off with a stamped tag, charms and matching ribbon:

I'm entering this into Anything But Cute's November challenge, It's Ornamental. The challenge is to create a Christmas ornament or decor piece.

Thanks for stopping by! I hope I've inspired you to go get creative. The supplies I used for this project can be found at Sizzix, Inspiration Emporium or Amazon. Inspiration Journal – Mission Embossable!

A new month means that a new challenge is upon us! For November, the new Inspiration Journal theme is Mission Embossable! We want to see your projects incorporating embossing whether it is with paste, powder or folders. Just link up your project in the challenge post and you will be in the running to win a prize from Inspiration Emporium. I went a little crazy with embossing folders for my project, a set of nine steampunk ATCs.

My steampunk motto is if one gear is good then two, three, four or five gears must be better! The background cards and chipboard numbers were all dry embossed and then I assembled them with all the chipboard gears. To get the faux rusty look I used DecoArt Media products and followed the technique shared by Andy Skinner in this video. In retrospect, I think I should have added another final coat of Ultra Matte Varnish – they still seem a bit on the shiny side.
