Love Journaling – Valentine Tag Journal

Hello there, February is flying by! Our Eileen Hull Inspiration Team's theme for the month has been "Love Journaling". The designers have been interpreting this in all sorts of fun ways (check out Eileen's blog). I decided to make a Valentine themed tag journal with a matching stand.

For the stand, I discovered that the pocket from Eileen's Frame Pocket Journal Die fits perfectly on the Phone Stand. Nice!

I used the Library Pocket, ATC Card & Tabs Die Set, to make journaling cards for the pages. I imagined that you could write all the reasons you love your significant other on each page.

Did I mention how I love that the pocket fits perfectly on the phone stand? ;-) Let's take a look at some of the tutorial steps…

Step 1 – I used my Gel Press plate to print onto sheets of mat board to lay down all the base colors and textures. After I cut out the parts I stenciled on the hearts. (Tip, you can use your dies to create your own stencils. I used Eileen's retired Hearts Journaling Cards dies to cut through a thin piece of plastic to make the stencil I used below.)

I didn't use the little phone stand front pieces but they made
it into the photo. Ignore them ha ha.

Step 2 – I also printed the tags, cut out of white and kraft cardstock. Another tip, you can use your dies to make stamps! I used the Mandala Die to cut a shape from fun foam and adhered it to a piece of scrap plastic. I used it to stamp with paint on the tags.

Step 3 – I added some stamping to the tags (Eileen's Snail Mail - Postage set) and attached them to each other with pieces of Linen Tape. Easy peasy!

Hello Eileen Hull fans! Today Eileen is releasing a brand new stamp set from Maker Forte. It is called "Making Plans" and you will find it so useful! It's chock full of labels, dates, weekdays, months and other useful bits making it perfect for planners, scrapbook pages, journals and a host of other projects. Here's what Eileen has to say about it,

"I am excited to release the Making Plans stamp set! If you use a planner, diary, calendar, date book, birthday book or write down any kind of list, this is the set for you! You get a vintage typeset list of days of the week, months, and words associated with planning, organizing or a few phrases just for fun. Along with that there are also eight label shapes that the words will fit it. These are great to use in journals, to customize cards, and on tags and other ephemera. Join me and the team to see uses for this fun stamp set!"

If you missed the live Release Party you can watch it HERE on replay. You can see me share the following makes…

I used the Shadow Box Frames #2 die set to create these frames for some of my son's prom photos. I used the new Making Plans stamp set to add the date labels to make them nice momentos.

I also made a trio of Tiny Books! These little books are perfect for tucking in your purse or giving as gifts. All three are held together with one elastic loop.

I used the stamps to add to the cover backgrounds as well as making the labels on the fronts.

If the covers look familiar, it's because I used collage papers left over from this Postcard Folio I made for Eileen's last stamp release. (Keep the scraps LOL!)

I'll show you how I make the closure down below so keep going!

Check out all of Eileen's stamp sets in her etsy shop! Let's take a look at how I made the little Tiny Books. They are so cute and a great way to use scraps.

1) First I cut the covers out using the Tiny Book Scoreboards Die. I backed my collage cardstock paper scraps with heavy duty cardstock to make the cover substrate nice and thick. Matboard works great too.

For the pages inside I cut stacks of note paper 4.25" x 2.75" and folded each one in half. I clamped the stack between an acrylic stamp block and a ruler with the edges near the folds of the pages. I spread a layer of glue along along all the folds to glue the page block together.

2) While the page blocks were drying, I set an eyelet in the center of the middle book spine.

3) I used hot glue to adhere the splayed ends of some thin elastic to the inside of the spine. It adds bulk but I sized my page block to allow for that. I also used extra hot glue to fill in the spaces when I glued the page block in.

Thanks for stopping by and be sure to keep an eye on Eileen's blog for more inspiration from the Educator and Inspiration Teams! On Wednesday the 27th there will be a round up post of all the Team samples made with Eileen's new stamp set so stay tuned for that!

Eileen Hull has a New Stamp Release

Good morning! Today is another new release day! Eileen Hull has been partnering with Maker Forte to create stamps to tickle your creative muse. Two new sets are now available to add to your crafting arsenal:

I am loving the vintage vibe of these two sets. You can read about Eileen's inspiration for them on her blog post. Also to be found there is a list of links to the designers who have been busy creating with these lovelies and have projects for you to see!

I created a little folio book (see the how-to live from Eileen) and filled it with mixed media postcards!

She will be sharing samples from the Team and telling us all about her new stamps. Check out the blog posts from the other Team members too (list on Eileen's blog). We are sharing our makes for your inspiration!

Tutorial Time!

I used a variety of techniques to create this project. First I rummaged through my stash of patterned cardstock and found a likely assortment to use (from way back lol).

Step 2 - I created a stack of gel prints made on deli paper, a translucent paper good for collage. (Hot tip: today I was watching a gel printing video and the artist recommended printing on archival tissue paper. It's apparently stronger than regular tissue paper and even better for collage than deli paper. I haven't tried it yet but sounds very good!)

Step 3 - My plan was to create "master sheets" that I could collage, stamp, etc. and then cut into postcard backgrounds. I first used torn sections of the deli paper prints and painted book pages to collage onto strips of patterned cardstock (5.25" x 12").

I also lightly brayered some white Fresco Chalk Paint over the collaged strips to help the pieces visually blend together.

Step 4 - Next came the stamping part! I used various colors of archival ink and Eileen's new (and older) stamps to add pattern and visual texture to the collaged sheets.

Step 5 - Once I had the postcard backgrounds cut out, I added ephemera and diecut elements. After that I doodled on them with gel pens, then added final touches of embossing with Distress Glaze and stencils.

Side note - Making ephemera "stamps" with gel prints and Eileen's Snail Mail Die Set:

Cut out a sheet of stamps

Stamp your stamps! Tear at the perforations. Easy!

Step 6 - I made the folio folder that holds the postcards following the directions that Eileen shared with us in a recent live video. Each folder is made with a single sheet of 12"x12" cardstock! It's like magic LOL. I made two folders and glued them together to hold more postcards (because I made so many, they are addictive.)

Here is one folder with the pocket flaps glued but not
fully assembled.

Thanks for stopping by! I hope you have been inspired to go get crafty. ;-) Don't miss Eileen's release live video and pay a visit to the blogs of the team to see their projects too!

Feeling Fall-ish Birthday Card with Eileen Hull

Hello and welcome to November! This month the theme on Eileen's blog is 'Seasonal Makes' which covers all the bases this time of year. I created a fall themed card for my mother-in-law's birthday next week. Take a look:

Lisa Hoel for Eileen Hull - Seasonal Makes, Fall themed birthday card #creativejuicefreshsqueezed #gelpressobsessed #eileenhull #eileenhulldesigns #eileenhullsizzix #ehinspirationteam #eheducators #Sizzix #mymakingstory #diecutting

The card background is a monoprint made using a gel plate and then stamped with one of Eileen's new stamps (Snail Mail Everyday Sentiments).

I used some of Eileen's retired flower and leaf dies to cut the parts for the embellishment. The big flower on the bottom I embossed using her fabulous (seriously one of my favorite 3-D Embossing Folders) new Sweater folder.  I used a double sided adhesive sheet to attach the plaid fabric to a piece of cardstock before cutting out the center flower. This helps stabilize the shape and prevents fraying at the edges.

There you go, this is a clean and simple card for me lol.

New Stamp Release from Eileen Hull!

Eileen Hull is partnering with Maker Forte to bring you a brand new product line - beautifully designed stamps for your crafting pleasure! The second release with 2 sets is happening today and Eileen's Inspiration and Education Teams have been hard at work to bring you inspiring projects made using her stamps.

Here's a look at what is now available with this second release:

Wonderful World of Flowers

Snail Mail - Inspire Stamp Set

I used Eileen's Notebook Die and the Wonderful World of Flowers Stamp Set to create the cover for this fall color inspired mini notebook.

I stamped the flowers on the cover and then embossed them with detail black embossing powder. After embossing, I went in with acrylic paint to embellish the stamped flowers.

The inside of the cover is stamped using Eileen's Vintage Damask Stamp. I also had some mini pre-made books that fit perfectly into the cover that I could use as signatures.
