Lavinia Valentine Card with Topflight Stamps

This week at Topflight Stamps our brand focus is on Lavinia (always a favorite of mine!) I wanted to make one last Valentine card so I chose a color scheme of pinks and reds. I featured the cute Pipspell mouse stamp. (Check out the card I made using his little buddy Thistlewhisk.)

I used the Pods stencil and Soft Cygnet ink to blend the background, then stamped over it with pink inks and the Wild Vines and Twisted Vine stamps.

Punny Valentines for the 14th with Topflight Stamps

This week at Topflight Stamps our theme is "Anything Goes". I'm still going to town with the Valentine theme so I created a set of "punny" valentines like the kind you used to hand out to your grade school classmates. I'm amused by all the goofy puns on those vintage valentines so I made up some of my own to pair with the funny Katzelkraft stamp images.

To make these, I first made some masterboards to chop up for the backgrounds. I layered ink sprays, stamping and washi tape (AALL & Create #52 Blush) and used watercolor paper for the substrate.

Using both the Holey Fun and Quirky Post AALL & Create die sets, I cut the inner sections from the masterboards and a backing of plain red cardstock. I stamped various Katzelkraft animal stamps onto separate paper, watercolored them and then fussy cut them out. My whole family contributed to brainstorming the punny sentiments which I printed out using my computer. It was fun!

Love is in the Air with Topflight Stamps

This week at Topflight Stamps our theme is "Pink & Red" which of course is perfect for making valentines!

The base is a background made with various pink inks and Maple Crimson Starburst Spray from the Autumn Leaves Lindy's Stamp Gang set. I used a mask (stencil) from Studio Light to make a monoprint of hearts over the inky background. I couldn't resist pulling out a Katzelkraft dragon stamp (love that derpy little guy) to use for my focal image.

Valentines with Topflight Stamps

This week at Topflight Stamps our theme is "Valentines".  February 14th will be here before we know it! I created a card using Lavinia stamps and a Studio Light die set.

The base is a blended background made with Lavinia Elements inks. I love building scenes with Lavinia stamps – they all mix and match so well! The cute little mouse is a stamp called Thistlewhisk. The love sentiment is from the Studio Light Love die set.

Pink & Red = Valentine Cards with Topflight Stamps

Hello, this week at Topflight Stamps our theme is all about using the colors Red & Pink so I'm back with another Valentine card to share! (Check out the large selection of Love themed stamps and stencils in the store.) I had some more stencil fun on this card. (Stencils are on SALE through the end of the month!)

I laid the Studio Light Stencil Grungy Hearts onto a sheet of red card stock and then sprayed it all over with Pinkella Mysticals Mist. It has a more subtle appearance that springs into view when the light hits the shine. It make a great background for various tags cut out of different pieces of cardstock (Regency Bunting #44 and Tag Mini Album Die Sets).

The little cat is the PaperArtsy Zinis Stamp ZN35. I watercolored and fussy cut it out.

Send Someone a Love-ly Card for Valentine's Day

Hello, this week at Topflight Stamps our theme is all about Valentine's Day and I'm back with another card to share! (Check out the large selection of Love themed stamps and stencils in the store.) I had some stencil fun on this card.

I laid the Studio Light Stencil Grungy Hearts onto a sheet of white mixed media card stock and then sprayed it all over with Pinkella Mysticals Mist. I left the stencil in place and sprinkled some tiny bits of Burgandy Dinkles Ink Powder onto it as well. I also spritzed on a bit of extra water to help the powder crystals dissolve. I let the stencil lie on the paper while everything dried and removed it afterwards.

Valentine's Day Cards with Topflight Stamps

Hello, this week at Topflight Stamps our theme is all about Valentine's Day! It's fun to make cards for friends and loved ones and there is certainly a large selection of stamps and stencils to choose from in the store. I made this cute card:

The background is a sheet of AALL & Create Design Paper from the Papyrus Vert #7 pack. (Handy and quick!) I stamped over that using the Heartfelt Pattern Carabelle Stencil / Stamp Set. I topped it off with some fussy cut images from the AALL & Create Stamp Set, Heart Hugs, stamped and watercolored.

Funkie Junkie Focus - "Hearts & Flowers" Valentine's Day!

Hello Funkie Junkie fans! Our theme this time is "Hearts & Flowers" Valentine style. I leaned into a traditional color scheme and put together a candy box made from Eileen Hull's new Cantilever Sewing Box Die.

This die is based on the design of vintage sewing boxes. Maybe you have a full sized one yourself! They open up just like the originals:

I filled mine with candies and a little note.

Here's a look at how I put it together:

1) Here are all the parts cut out.

2) I used sections of washi tape glued at the corners to assemble all the box parts. A rubber band around the top held it all in place while the glue dried.

3) To help reinforce the base of the box, I cut an extra piece of mat board 21/8" x 6" to glue underneath the two bottom boxes.

I folded and glued the feet to the base. A little piece of washi tape helped to hold the feet in the folded position while I was gluing them.

4) Using the brads and cross pieces, you just start building up and attaching the other boxes.

5) A section of the stamps cut from the Mini Slimline & Tickets Die fit perfectly onto the sewing box lids!

Love Journaling – Valentine Tag Journal

Hello there, February is flying by! Our Eileen Hull Inspiration Team's theme for the month has been "Love Journaling". The designers have been interpreting this in all sorts of fun ways (check out Eileen's blog). I decided to make a Valentine themed tag journal with a matching stand.

For the stand, I discovered that the pocket from Eileen's Frame Pocket Journal Die fits perfectly on the Phone Stand. Nice! 

I used the Library Pocket, ATC Card & Tabs Die Set, to make journaling cards for the pages. I imagined that you could write all the reasons you love your significant other on each page. 

Did I mention how I love that the pocket fits perfectly on the phone stand? ;-) Let's take a look at some of the tutorial steps…

Step 1 – I used my Gel Press plate to print onto sheets of mat board to lay down all the base colors and textures. After I cut out the parts I stenciled on the hearts. (Tip, you can use your dies to create your own stencils. I used Eileen's retired Hearts Journaling Cards dies to cut through a thin piece of plastic to make the stencil I used below.)

I didn't use the little phone stand front pieces but they made
it into the photo. Ignore them ha ha.

Step 2 – I also printed the tags, cut out of white and kraft cardstock. Another tip, you can use your dies to make stamps! I used the Mandala Die to cut a shape from fun foam and adhered it to a piece of scrap plastic. I used it to stamp with paint on the tags.

Step 3 – I added some stamping to the tags (Eileen's Snail Mail - Postage set) and attached them to each other with pieces of Linen Tape. Easy peasy!

Funkie Junkie Focus - All About Love

Hello February! Our current Funkie Junkie Focus theme is "All About Love". I still have Tim Holtz Idea-ology products left from Christmas crafting so I decided to "Valentine" them.

The red Christmas Curio Clock is perfect for Valentine's Day too! I painted a Salvaged Snowman in Valentine colors so he fits perfectly in the scene.

The outside is decorated with washi tape, baker's twine and an Idea-ology token.

Of course I felt compelled to incorporate Tiny Lights because everything is better when it lights up. ;-)

Here's a look at how this came together…

Step 1 – I first painted the Salvaged Snowman with Distress Paints.When the paint was thoroughly dry, I antiqued it using Hickory Smoke Distress Crayon.

Step 2 – I used Lost Shadow, Weathered Wood and Tumbled Glass Distress Paint to make some backgrounds. These three colors have a great wintery feel!

Step 3 – I used the Falling Hearts Tim Holtz Die to cut into the clock background. I backed the whole thing with a circle of pink glassine paper I had in my stash. (You could use tissue paper or alcohol inked plastic too.)

Step 4 – Installing the Tiny Lights wasn't hard. I drilled a hole through the metal clock backing and coiled the light string around inside. I started out hot gluing it in place but the glue wasn't sticking well to the slick metal. Tape ended up working better. I put some little foam core spacers around the edges of the back to create space between the lights and the paper background.

Step 5 – An older die set, Mini Christmas Things, had the perfect little snowflake shape to add the final February wintery touch.

Valentine Challenge at The Funkie Junkie Boutique Blog

Hello Funkie Junkie fans. It's time for a new challenge! Valentine's Day is right around the corner and this challenge is appropriately to create a frilly or a funkie Valentine! Janna Ketchum is our hostess and here is what she has to say,

You will probably start to see that I have a love of making scenes in little boxes. (Did you catch my last challenge project?) I'm starting a new project of making a Book Box of the Month – this should keep me busy all year. I'm using Eileen Hull's new Sizzix Book Box Die and each month will have its own holiday/seasonally appropriate diorama book. Here is what I made for a Valentine's February book:

a celebration of Valentines! I think this new Klimt paper collection from Stamperia is a very popular one. I've seen several beautiful projects made using it out in social media land. It really is gorgeous! 

I used white Venise lace hearts and trims on the front and inside. I found that stains and sprays did a good job of coloring them.

Various Tim Holtz Funky Floral dies complemented the Klimt style of artwork of the papers.

The rose detailing on the front here and the sides of the book is texture paste applied through a stencil and then sprinkled with gold embossing powder. Once the paste was dry, I heated it to melt the powder.

I had a lot of fun making this "February Book"! I love to add all the little details. Coming up will be a book for March so stay tuned…
